Mario Zegarra

B.Sc. in Physical Rehabilitation | Peruvian Ufologist | Declassifier of UFO Archives

Mario Zegarra is a renowned Peruvian researcher and ufologist with 30 to 35 years of trajectory. At 64 years of age, he is considered a central figure in UFO research in Peru, standing out for his fight for transparency and access to official files on the phenomenon.

With a degree in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Zegarra was the sole discoverer of Peruvian military UFO documents. At the end of the year 2000, he was called by the Peruvian Air Force (FAP) as a representative of civil society and founding member of OIFAA (Office of Investigation of Anomalous Aerial Phenomena), the first Peruvian governmental entity dedicated to this study.

Fight for UFO Declassification (2012–2014)

Between 2012 and 2014, Mario Zegarra undertook a historic declassification process, supported by the Law of Transparency and Access to Public Information (Law No. 27806).

1. Formal Petitions to the State

He sent letters to the:

  • President of the Republic (Ollanta Humala)
  • President of Congress
  • President of the Council of Ministers

His request reached a Council of Ministers, acquiring the status of a Supreme Resolution, something unprecedented in Peruvian ufology.

2. Contradictory Government Responses

  • The FAP and the Army claimed to possess no UFO files in 60 years.
  • The Office of the President of the Republic declared the files secret and reserved, alleging defense and national security.

3. Discrimination and Censorship

In December 2013, a foreign (Mexican) journalist was authorized to photograph 18 UFO files, including File 0007 – La Joya Case, while Zegarra, being Peruvian, was denied access. He considered it a violation of sovereignty and an act of national discrimination.

Discoveries and Key Documents

Thanks to an informant known as “El Patriota” (“The Patriot”), Zegarra gained access to highly sensitive documents:

• UFO Crash in Huancayo (1967) and Cajamarca (1966)

  • Telegrams report the fall of flying objects during the government of Fernando Belaunde.
  • The Civil Guard and the FAP recovered the remains under the supervision of a military officer from the American Embassy, and they were sent to NASA.

• Foreign Influence – CIA and Air Forces

Zegarra presented photographs that show coordination between high-ranking Peruvian officers and foreign intelligence agents since the 1950s–60s.
One image shows a Peruvian officer holding a secret manual of the U.S. Air Force.

• Non-Human Entity – Sierra de Lima (1973)

He obtained three exclusive photographs about a case where something organic crashed.
A surviving being would have been hidden by peasants for decades. Zegarra plans to present evidence in an unpublished recording.

Vision and Objective

Mario Zegarra has devoted 27 years independently, without affiliations or funding.
His goal: that the UFO files of the Peruvian State be delivered to the National Library, creating a section for researchers, students, and professionals.

He currently promotes:

  • The creation of university and technical courses in ufology.
  • The insertion of the topic in the scientific and academic sphere, as occurred in his presentation on the Nazca Mummies at the Universidad San Luis Gonzaga de Ica.
