Giorgio Piacenza

Sociologist and researcher

Giorgio Piacenza is one of Peru’s most prominent researchers of the UFO phenomenon, recognized for his philosophical, ethical, and scientific approach. His work unites field ufology with consciousness analysis, proposing an integral vision that encompasses the physical dimension of the phenomenon as well as its interdimensional and spiritual nature.

Beginnings and Experience with Contactism

Piacenza began in ufology in 1974, motivated by the boom of contact groups in Peru.
His first programmed sighting occurred in 1975 at the Chilca beach, where he witnessed a discoidal object about 12 meters in diameter suspended and illuminated over the sea.

In 1977 he joined Grupo Rama, although his first contact was through his uncle Tadeo Barja’s group, who practiced automatic writing and mediumistic communication with supposed beings from Ganymede and other worlds.
Piacenza has described that, beyond the excesses or fanaticism that can arise in contact groups, the feeling of fraternity and loving welcome from these entities was a deeply transformative experience.

He has also shared verifiable sightings alongside contactee Ricardo González in places such as Marcahuasi and Atacama, stating that González tells the truth and that both phenomena (physical and psychic) are interrelated.

Role in DIFA and the Peruvian Air Force (FAP)

In 2013, Piacenza was invited as a civilian technical advisor to the newly created Directorate of the Investigation of Anomalous Aerial Phenomena (DIFA) of the FAP.
During his tenure, he contributed to:

  • Organizing the office and its working methodology.
  • Designing protocols for witness interviews and evidence analysis.
  • Proposing the systematization of national cases.

Piacenza observed that the initial archives of DIFA were almost empty, except for the Chulucanas case.
He also noted that most witnesses preferred to remain anonymous, making reports confidential but not secret.

He eventually stepped down after his initiative for the FAP to be the first air force in the world to attend a programmed sighting and verify it publicly did not prosper, which would have put it even ahead of the United States.

International Commitment: ICER

Giorgio Piacenza is an active member of the International Coalition for Extraterrestrial Research (ICER), an organization that officially recognizes interaction with non‑human intelligences and seeks to give scientific and political legitimacy to the phenomenon.

ICER produced a document with the 60 strongest UFO cases in the world, demonstrating the multidimensionality of the phenomenon and its intelligent behavior.

In September 2023, Piacenza participated in the presentation of the Titan Project, carried out together with the Italian National Ufological Coalition (CUN) before the Ministry of Culture of San Marino.
The objective: invite the government of San Marino to present to the UN the creation of a permanent office for organizing international conferences on UFO studies, promoting transparency and global cooperation.

Perspective on the Phenomenon and Consciousness

Piacenza proposes that the most appropriate denomination is Unidentified Aerospace Phenomenon (UAP), since these objects manifest in the air, the sea, and orbital space.

Principles of his integral vision:

  • Transcendence of time and space:
Non‑human beings operate beyond human limitations of space‑time, implying an expanded consciousness.
  • Evolution of research:
He argues that ufology must integrate science with spirituality and ethics, developing a new paradigm of integral knowledge.
  • Ken Wilber’s model:
He bases his analysis on an inter‑ontological model that encompasses four dimensions of the phenomenon:
    1. The subjective (personal experience).
    2. The objective (physical evidence).
    3. The intersubjective (cultural consensus).
    4. The systemic (global context).
  • Consciousness and contact:
Human consciousness is, according to Piacenza, the bridge of communication with other intelligences, with contact being a spiritual experience as well as a physical one.

He has published two chapters in the book A Reality Greater than Real Credits (Una realidad mayor a créditos reales), where he develops a philosophy of contact based on consciousness.

Outreach and Media

Giorgio Piacenza runs the New Frontiers Network channel on YouTube, where he interviews international figures such as Nick Pope and Lue Elizondo, delving into the relationship between ufology, science, politics, and spirituality.
On his personal channel, he has published an exclusive interview with General (ret.) Luis Spicer of the Peruvian Air Force, addressing issues of air safety and official evidence.
